This year, resolve to plan for the future

At the beginning of a new year, people typically look forward to making a fresh start and resolve to be happier, healthier or more relaxed than they were the year before.

Some of these resolutions fall through; after all, keeping a resolution is much more difficult than making one. But there is one resolution that people all across Miami can and should make and then keep: creating an estate plan.

The idea of making end-of-life plans can be off-putting to many people, which means that a lot of them fail to put an enforceable and effective estate plan in place. Sadly, by not making these decisions yourself, you could be leaving difficult and painful decisions in the hands of someone who may not want or be able to handle that kind of responsibility.

Rather than put loved ones in a position of making difficult funeral, medical or asset distribution decisions, it can be a much better idea to make these plans yourself.

While estate planning can be a complicated process, you do not have to try and navigate it alone. You can work with an attorney who understands the sensitive and perhaps overwhelming nature of drawing up a will or assigning someone to make decisions on your behalf.

When it comes to wills, trusts, asset distribution and estate tax concerns, the attorneys at the Law Offices of Frye & Vazquez can guide you through the steps of estate planning and help you explore your options for documenting your wishes and ensuring they are respected.

If your New Year’s resolutions included plans to take better care of your family, prepare for the future, make good financial decisions or minimize drama in your life, you could achieve each one of these by speaking with an attorney at our firm about creating or updating an estate plan.
